There are allsots of places to find Beetles. How much do you want to spend?
You could try somewhere like the Vehicles for Sale area of www.volkszone.co.uk.
Buy Ultra VW magazine etc. Just look at as many cars as you can and get
an idea for good & bad ones.

You can but many books on buying Beetles & what to look for. Also Volksworld
did a "buyers Guide" series about 4 years ago on various cars including
the 1302s. (I now own the 1967 1500 VW Beetle that was covered in the series).

There isnt enough space to detail all the places to look & what to look
for, but basic places are the Heater chanels, Inner wings - front & back,
window rubbers & surrounds, engine, gearbox - the list goes on.

I would have a look at diffrent ages as well to get an idea of what the
diffeences are. You could also join a local club & ask advice there - Where
in the UK are you?

Unleaded fuel is not a problem on aircooled VW's this topic is covered
extensively
on the "Tech" area of Volkszone. Join and do a search on Unleaded & you
will see what I mean.
