if these are European (smaller) turn signals then standard in Philippines may have been the American (bigger) style??

Hello everyone. I am from the Philippines and like most (if not all)
of you, I am also a proud owner of a 1302S daily-driven beetle. I am
wondering if anybody has any explanation why my car, a 1972 model,
has front turn signals that are smaller than the usual 1302S turn
signals. If I'm not mistaken, I think that my turn signals are the
same as those of the '68-'70 beetle models. When I talked to the
original owner of the car (he was the first owner), however, he told
me that what is on the car now are the original turn signals when he
first got it from the dealer in 1972. Does anybody have an
explanation?
