1302 is the official VW (German) factory (thus European and including here the UK) designation for the 1971 and 1972 Macpherson strut Beetles, In USA and Canada these models were designated as Super Beetles. And S means 1600 engine as opposed to the 'standard' 1300 - all US Beetles were 1600 with no 1300 options.
