Hey there, what's happening? I want to install A/C in my '72 Super
Beetle. I bought a kit from I.C.E.. They only have kits for Standards
and curved-windshield Supers. My kit is for The Super. I can
practically use almost every part of the kit, except for the
evaporator housing. If there is anybody out there that has a housing
from a dealer-installed A/C unit from a '71/'72 Super, just lemme
know. I don't need the entire evaporator, just the housing. Thanx.

I'm really hoping that someone can give me advice on my problem. I
have a 71 super beetle. I recently installed a new exhaust, but now
I'm wanting to remove my heat exchanges and install J-tubes. I have
run into a problem. I noticed that my E-brake is mounted to the top
of the heat exchange. If I removve them and put on the J-tubes, what
do I do with the e-brake? Where do I mount them? etc. etc. etc.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank You!
Too many mods by previous owner to know for sure, as in message to
Mark, we'll just call it "wannabe 1302S"...Thanks, Buzzer

1302S refers in UK and Europe to the 1600 engines. 1300 and the optional 1200 engine were plain 1302. 1302L was the 1300 with the 'Luxury' package and 1302LS the Convertibles though probably not exclusively.

Hi there,
The easiest way to tell is look at the front brake assembly. Assuming you
have a European car you will have disc brakes on the front if it is an "s".
If it is a 1302 then you will only have drum brakes on the front. However
if the car is a US vehicle I think, the car will have drums all round
regardless.
I hope this helps you

How can I find out if my '71 Super is an "S" or other designation,
also is the "1302"(vs. "Volkswagen") on the engine cover common in
england or europe?
Thanks, Buzzer
Sorry to post this here, but as this is the site for 1302S owners, I
thought that it would have more relevance here.
I am looking to sell my 1302S - it is a 1971 model.
For more information, please take a look at

Colin - the site, as always keeps getting better! :)

Eddie,
I was wondering where in the site you posted the pics? I have looked and can't
find any.
Kind regards
Mark

Thanks for the replies, reference my car. Unfortunately I have been
back in the UK and have not had a chance to reply to you all until
now. I have posted some photos on the site. I need info to ensure
that I am restoring a 100% authentic car. For instance the keen eyed
amongst you may notice the front bumper has a thick rubber strip
along its length and the rear has only black tape. Which is authentic?
I have hit a problem with the underside, inner wheel arches to floor
pan and many other areas involving rust and indeed huge holes which
are taking an eternity to cut out and replace with good metal but
with perseverance I hope to be driving the car soon.
Thanks again for all the replies and I hope to hear from you all
soon.
Good Luck mate, let us see some photos as soon as you have any

Eddie my 1302ls cabrio has turquoise metallic paint (95B) and is a vw colour - although mines been resprayed at some time, but its still the original colour. Have a look here for the colour charts and info on how to identify the car http://www.1302super.com/page7.html but you've probably already found that.
Not sure about the insurance value for the car - look at some of the local vw mags and go on a value of a similar car for sale - as this should reflect the current 'market' value. Agreed value usually needs some sort of independent verification from a reputable trade or club representative, and photographic proof of condition.
Send me a few photos if you wish - glad to help.

Subject: [1302 eGroup] please help me find out about my 1302
hi,
I am Eddie and I live in Germany. I have recently aquired a LHD
VW Beetle (1302 I believe) flat screen automatic from 1972. I have
been tinkering with it and have got it almost to roadworthy
condition - still requires extensive cutting and welding after
previous poor attempt to cover rust spots. A colegue has informed me
that it is however 99% original and therefore I have decided to keep
it. I need to know if the turquoise colour is a VW Original and what
value to insure it for. I have some photos if someone would please
verify model from them I will e-mail them to their address.
Any information would be a bonus as I am new to the VW world but have
enjoyed renovating my beetle with the help of a haynes manual and a
good sense of humour.

Hi people I am the proud owner of a 72 convertible. I am looking for
a new top and maybe some advice about intallation. Ihave been in and
outof this car from froont to back. I am on my third engine and have
adjusted the suspnsion. replced the fule gage sending unit and
various other things. This is my 5th beetle. I have previously owned
a 64 sunroof, a 72 of unknown interest, a 66 standard and a 62
standard. My next VW will be a neat split window bus or a Safari,
whichever comes first.
send me some pics Eddie (cshinkin@...) and i will do my best, if its flat screen and big springs under front fenders then u have a 1302.

VW 1302 IG Treffen. Lars Schmitt writes – `The planning of our first
ride is finished. We test-drove the selected route through wonderful
areas of the Rhein-Main-Area using a VW 1302.
We'll meet on Saturday, May 25th 2002 near Frankfurt am Main at
highway-station/restaurant Wetterau, direction south of the Autobahn
A5 (Kassel/Basel) at 10 am. At 11am we'll depart for a approximately
1 hour trip to a former mill. There's enough room to present our
vehicles, to take some photos, to talk to each other and to eat
something. The 500 years old mill is now a very good restaurant.
After this we'll depart slowly back to the meeting point. There are
no big events planned, this first meeting should start contacts
between those that attend'.
