ŒAlex doesnıt sleep much. He sits up most nights writing pages and
pages of thoughts, spilling his soul out onto paper he sits and
reminisces. Trying to discover his purpose. He sits and writes. And
drinks. But to what purpose? Thatıs where Alexander steps in. To make
sense of your problems sometimes you just have to push through them,
argue through them or drink through them. There are some lines you
shouldnıt cross. There are some thoughts you shouldnıt write down.
There has always been an itch. And the only way to scratch itŠ is to
scream.ı

Wed 12 Mar - Sat 19 Apr 08

Caught somewhere between expectation and action; a clown waits for an
audience, an audience waits for a clown. In this slippage of
experience, the clown is frozen between back-stage and on-stage,
invisible and visible; situated in the here-and-now of the moment,
something is said and something is heard.

Will has recently shown performance work at the Green Room,
Manchester and at the National Review of Live Art, Glasgow and a new
installation piece at the Bonington Gallery, Nottingham as part of
Sensitive Skin 2007.

There will be a free gallery talk by Will Pollard on Wednesday 12

Hot Air is an environmental comedy, set during an outdoor party on
the moor. The party quickly overruns polite conversation and a heated
debate breaks out about the origins of global warming, its likely
impact on the local community and the facts and follies that we all
face in dealing with climate change.

Instead of simply witnessing this debate, Hot Air invites audience
members to join in. The play will be followed by an interactive
period of discussion with the characters, led by a facilitator. Buy
your tickets now by calling the MED Theatre box office on 01647

B.10) 'Cock tales and ballads' by Eirini Kartsaki, 9pm 14/03/08.
Camden People's Theatre

Part of The Scene Pool, presented by PI Network,

ŒCock tales and balladsı is a parable of sexual despair, a story
about human desire, which is never fulfilled, but always deepened in
the encounter with Œthe otherı. It is a piece where movement and
language are intertwined in an attempt to articulate an arrested
intimate experience; the female figure in this solo piece narrates
her story and through her body she tries to answer the only question,
that of the beloved. As a means of expression the performance uses
repetition both in terms of movement and text in order to signify the
obsessive nature of sexual lust. The story telling is physical: the
words become movement and the movements generate words. Alternating
between crude detachment from oneself and fragile intimacy, ŒCock
tales and balladsı touches on the intricate theme of human
dependence.

B.14) Lucy Cash / Daynightly They re-school you The Bears-Polka

In 2004, Goat Island premiered their eighth performance work, When

its inspirations was the poetry of Paul Celan and his poetics of
compression, collision, and miniaturisation particularly informed the

these ideas migrated into the live performance while others found
their way into Daynightly They re-school you The Bears-Polka.

ROSEMARY BRANDT - Exploring Laban

When: March 8th and 9th | Where: Clean Break, Kentish Town | How
Much: £75 | Who for: Directors, Movement Directors, performers
interested in choreography | Maximum 12 Participants

Rudolph Laban looked upon movement as a two way language process
through which the human body could communicate by giving and
receiving messages. He believed an understanding of this neglected
language would lead to a better means of understanding people. The
Laban technique introduces the student to certain basic movement
principles to which all living matter conforms. Once we know 'where'
we are going in space, we must observe and analyse 'how' we are going
and 'what' kind of movement energy we use.

Rosemary is a qualified practical choreologist. She is in demand in
both classical and contemporary dance spheres and is recognised as
being an outstanding educator. Rosemary is senior lecturer in
Choreological Studies at LABAN.
