Rules and Regs is a new project dedicated to assisting the creation of new =


Live Art. Co-

produced with the Brighton Fringe, we're aiming to remove some of the produ=


ction

obstacles that can stand in the way of creativity…


We're looking for artists/groups interested in creating a 15-minute piece o=


f new Live Art.

Six artists/groups will be selected to participate and will each receive a =


slot in the

exhibitions to be held July 22-23 in the Fringe Venue in Brighton.


In addition to being part of the performance, each participating artist wil=


l receive a

package of production support including rehearsal time in the performance v=


enue and a

share in the event advertising.


The Catch: The work created must adhere to certain rules designed to spur =


creativity. The

Rules will be announced one month prior to performance… AFTER participants =


are

selected.

Some examples of possible rules include:


• No pre-recorded sound

• Only handheld lighting

• Must address a particular theme

• No speaking

• No performers (…the artist may define "performer")


The Rules are intended to promote creative thinking and they are in place f=


or the artists to

interpret as they wish…


Applications are welcome from artists practicing in any medium and with an =


interest in

creating Live Art… dancers, photographers, theatre makers, filmmakers, scul=


ptors, poets…


Deadline for applications: 7 June


Applications are not full project proposals… artists should simply declare =


their interest in

the project, introduce themselves and their practice and demonstrate profic=


iency in their

field.
