to everyone has been ,was ,is and might be in the future a member of
the best fighting machine ever built!! I hope you all had a very very
excellent festive period and here is to seeing as many of you as
possible in the forthcoming year !! all the fourssssssssss
Hi to one and all
may i take this time to wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new
year. hope we cacht up at some time in the year. all the fours
to those of you on this site and the squaddies site that saw the post i
put up about the above group will notice that it has now been deleted !
the reason for the deletion is simple i was under the impression that
the vets site was still being run by the three people who set it up
some three years ago and actually thought they were due a wind up !!
but i got an e mail from one of those involved who used someone elses
name to abuse me online which could have turned nasty had we not been
two inteligent people who sorted it out quite quickly after a couple of
false starts ! i have apologised for causing any upset of offence and
it has now been sorted !! to the pillock that is using my name on other
sites grow up and get a life your wind up failed miserably !!!it is
obvious that you scan through these sites regularly !!! someone will
catch up with you one day trust me !!!!
ok folks what are the odds against maddass dropping through the old
trapdoor on the end of a rope !!i think keeping him alive would be an
even bigger mistake than letting him live as it would then give the mad
mullahs something to aim for (his release) what country would want
him ? no christian countries surely so it would have to be an arab
state and which of those would america deem safe enough to keep him
locked away and not slip him out of the back door !!!dropping him on a
rope is the only safe option as far as i can see !!!and the sooner the
better!!!!!
who thinks that taking young muslims into british army bases is a very
bad idea ? do we not have enough to deal with without pandering to the
loony fringe who thinks that we need more muslims in the army !!
Just read one of the files C coy in that bog hole in France La
Courtine training area. What a place God drop and called good enough,
hornets the size of aircraft. The bog was some thing else it flushed
its self when you heard the water coming down the pipe you ran like
hell the place flooded quite a sight rufty tufy Angle Irons legging
out the bog it with their keks round their knees.
C coy C/sgt was caught on the exercise his name escapes me for now but
Sp coy staked him out in the sun and he went back to Paderbourne with
half his face sun burnt word was his wife was not happy with sp coy.
Haa happy days.
Hi all
Just to introduce myself, Richard Lake (brother to Pete) Joined the
Pompadours in Bulford and left when the Battalion was in Minden. Now
doing a little security job in Cambridge and live in the middle of the
countryside on a small holding.
Here's hoping more people find this site.
Cheers Richard.
just what does this goverment have to do to get itself unelected ??i
have just got in and watched the news only to see soldiers from
afghanistan i assume being offloaded from a transport plane into an
ambulance to be taken to civilian hospitals !! do we not have military
hospitals anymore where these lads can get the specialist treatment
that they are going to need not just for the physical wounds but for
the mental wounds aswell. A civilian hospital is no place for these
lads they just don't have the expertise to cater for what these lads
have been through !!!! and they certainly don't have the staff i know
from experience over the last two years having had surgery three times
the staffing levels are atrocious !!!!
hi all , is it just me being an outright muppet or dopes anyone else
have trouble actually getting through the mine field that is the yahoo
signing in process !! ity sone of the main things that keep me away
from this site but hopefully now i have solved all the problems and can
get on here without any more problems !!!! i am finally online at home
so i can now get on here whenever i feel like it as opposed to waiting
out in the rain for the local library to open up !!! and can at long
last use messenger something i have missed like mad !!!! good to see
you Dog we need more of our age group on here as the bloody youngsters
don't seem bothered do they !!! thats enough waffle for now catch you
all soon .....up the old red rooster !!!!
Just found you all from the links page on The Pompadour site thought I
should sign up for old times. Seems to be more of my age here. I went
into C Coy in 71 and did the first tour over the pond with George Boss
as plt sgt till I got zapped 11 July missed the second trip went to
Derry on the next one though. Then went to mortars and finnished in
77.
Wonder if any of you might remember Tich Fry and Bob Proudman and what
happened to them still owe Tich a big drink from back in the day.
Got a few memories of the days gone by like eating at The
West ham Bar cos the food beat the s**t out of the cook house.
Steve, Thanks for the message, yes it was certainly a brilliant day, I too am
looking forward to next year. Didn't see as many of the old faces that I
remember, but was reconnected with a few, Tom Wysoki, Bill Simpson, Dave Turner
and a few others that I served with, Could have been more but there you go, I
agree with you when you said what could be better than to meet up with old mates
and sink a few cold ones, but there you go!!
I have had quite a few new members join since Sunday as I have also put the
sites onto other sites and groups that I belong to, so that may work.
If I dont see you before next year look after yourself and keep posting here
All the best
Regards
Garry

hello mate
i'm fully with you with regards to the pompadours being the
best battalion but in the Queens division not just tyhe Anglian Regiment
!!!!!!! i don't know if you have been to Duxford over the last few years but
if you have you will have noticed that we have been virtually erased from
the museum !!! i did take the curator to task over it but she was at the
time some seventeen year old graduate who i fail to see could have had any
idea about regimental history and the pride we have in our Battalion it will
be interesting to see if anything has been done as i wasn't there last year
so there has been a two year gap since my last visit !!!! i am really
looking forward to this years gathering !!!!! i think it means more this
year having just lost Eric as i know he was really looking forward to it
this year aswell !!! anyway mate i have waffled enough take good care and
hope to see you next sunday !!!! all the
