Subject: New Orleans Gardens

Dear David:

We have received an update from gardens in New Orleans impacted by Hurricane Katrina.  Both LongVue House and the New Orleans Botanic Garden continue to be in need of donations, however, they are beginning to replant the gardens and are now in need of labor and plants.  Below is an update from each.

LongVue House

I spoke with Bonnie Goldblum, the Executive Director, and she indicated that within the next two weeks they will need people power to begin replanting the gardens.  She has requested groups that could come down for 2-3 days.  The activities will be coordinated by Amy Graham who is in charge of the gardens.  Amy will also be sending a list of plants in the near future that I will share with you.

The garden can find accommodations for people being sent down, however, you would need to cover the cost of travel and food.  If you are interested, please email Bonnie at mccarthyiv@....  If you would like to donate funds, please visit, www.longuevue.com.

New Orleans Botanic Garden

New Orleans has also begun replanting the garden primarily due to the contribution of one of a donor who originally intended to donate funds for a building project.  NOBG is planning its holiday celebration, and hope it will bring some sense of normalcy to the community.  If you are interested in assisting NOBG, there is a link to a plant list on the front page of the City Park website www.neworleanscitypark.com, and information about how to contact them to donate plants is contained behind that link.  You can also make cash donations at that site.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Thanks,

Dan
