Be concerned about heavy metals in Milorganite as well. It was a problem at one time, I don't know if it still is.

today with a fertilizer dealer. I have used Milorganite in the past
and not experienced any problems. However the dealer said, "Oh! I'd
be worried about bacteria [since its manufactured from waste water]
harming your animals. Has anyone else out there ever heard of such a
thing?
I called the Milogranite customer service number -which is answered
by anyone with a technical background and they couldn't confirm or
deny the acustion. I'm expecting a call back.
