RE: [AZH] Invasive plant interpretation

I think it should be imperative that in interpretive panels and programs we discuss and educate about invasives. The Science and Industry Museum in Chicago has a terrific frog exhibit (surely Shedd has *something* to do with it, though I didn't see any refernece to Shedd--beautiful enclosures, healthy animals, great signage) right now where they don't mention the African Clawed frog's invasive "tendency," but they do have a great message about how bullfrogs are displacing natives.
I have a serious infestation of L. japonica in the state park I work for and in the guided hike handout, there's a stop dedicated to honeysuckle. It encourages people to not use it in plantings, offers alternatives to the fast growing vine, the nature of invasives, other invasives threatening the area, and the role an individual can play in eradicating these plants. I once had a supervisor who just loved Daucus carota and wanted it planted. Rather than planting it, we put signage up around the park about the plants D. carota was displacing and, though carrot family plants are a good food source for lots of butterflies, you should mow these plants down before they go to seed to get them out of the landscape. It was appreciated by the visitors, but not the supervisor...

We opened an invasive exhibit this winter about fish and plants.  We interpret through signage and we have interp staff as well on occasion. We are reinstalling it this month.  I will send you what I can so you can see what we have done. OK?

Subject: [AZH] Invasive plant interpretation

Does anyone have signage/displays/etc on invasive plants at their
facility?

If anyone does work with invasive plants, do you talk about your work
with visitors through website or signage?

Hope everyone is well and staying cool!
