Celebrating Plants and the Planet:
The News page of www.zooplantman.com this month features stories on medical botany with a couple of plants well worth knowing.
The first story is about a terrific greenhouse plant (or landscape plant to zone 9), the shamans who know what it can do and the Harvard professor who asks, "how?"
Next, a beautiful SE USA shrub really does keep mosquitoes away! I was again attracted to this shrub last month when it was in flower at the New York Botanical Garden, although I most enjoy it in October. Now I have a reason to keep the romance going in the Summer.
Other new stories look at an interesting experiment to see how well plants reproduce when the "best" pollinator is missing. This could be replicated for the public or students at a zoo! And finally, thinking locally, an article proves the value of wildlife corridors in urban and suburban areas for plant survival!

Please share these stories with associates, staff, docents and - most importantly - visitors!
