Hi Everyone and thanks to Amy who was my first ebaby contributor.
I am the South Wales Area co-ordinator with 'The Baby Pack Project'
and I have a wonderful group of around forty people knitting and
sewing for me presently..
There is a clinic in Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa where poverty
forces new mums to take their babies home in newspaper. We are trying
to get enough good quality used baby clothing to make up a layette
pack for each new mother.
What we aim to provide:
A vest [0-3mths]
A babygro[0-3mths]
A bib
A jumper/sweater/cardigan [0-3 mths, though i have my 'helping hands
knitters' busy on these]
A Cloth Nappy with pants and a pin.
A little hat and booties or socks [0-3mths]
A blanket/Cot Sheet [flanelette sheets can be made into receiving
blankets or cot sheets]
A bar of baby soap
a small knitted toy.
The nappy is proving the biggest problem as these are rarely donated
but much needed. If you can help I would love to hear from you. Cash
donations are very welcome as shipping is expensive. Knitting wool is
very useful too. Any suggestions you might have on helping the
project would be greatfully received.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
