REPUBLICATION OF DANISH CARTOONS IS ATTEMPT TO PROVOKE MUSLIMS
Published: 13/02/2008 16:15
The Ramadhan Foundation expresses its total condemnation of the many Danish newspapers that have republished cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammad. There can be no justification or acceptance of this evil action two years after the last occasion. We believe in freedom of speech but this must include respect for religions and their symbols.
The Ramadhan Foundation urges the Muslim community around the world to remain calm and not fall into the trap that is being set against Islam. There can be only one purpose in republishing these cartoons – that is to reopen wounds that were left behind.
Mr. Muhammad Umar, Chairman of the Foundation comments:
"The Ramadhan Foundation is deeply saddened by the republication of these evil cartoons; we condemn the newspapers concerned unreservedly and urge them to stop escalating this matter.
I urge the Muslim community across the world to remain calm and not allow success to those that want a violent reaction from the community. We urge people to express their concern via their Danish embassy and to the Danish Government.
We support and practice freedom of speech but this ends when others are hurt"
