28/04/06 - Tai-Jutsu Course – Open to all AIWa Members. Conducted by
David Holtom 5th Dan (Chief Instructor of the La Fondation Du Cercle
(France)). Training programme will include: 1. Teach some practical
techniques that are relevant to the dangerous times we live in. 2.
Do so in such a way that everyone can take some Tai-jutsu away and
continue working with it. 3. Teach some basic techniques for
developing faster reactions better co-ordination and judgement of
distance. Venue: The Snoxhall Youth Sports Centre, Knowle Lane,

Open to all AIWa Members. Registration 9.00 a.m. start 10.00 a.m.
Seniors need not attend until 1.00 p.m. The WKU invites you to its
Open Invitational Karate Competition on Saturday 29th April 2006 -
At Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre. Cash Prize Events: Senior Male
Team – 1st Place; £1,000. Senior Female Team – 1st Place; £ amount
depends on number of entries. Senior Male Individual – 1st Place;
£50. Senior Female Individual – 1st Place; £50. Senior Black Belt
Kata – 1st Place £50. Age 5 to 9 Kumite – split into two grade
categories. Age 10+ Children's Kumite events are by height and grade
restriction. These must be adhered to. It is the responsibility of
the instructor to make sure entrants are put into the correct
category. Mistakes cannot be rectified on the day. Gum shields and
WKF style hand mitts are compulsory for all competitors. All
entrants must supply their own red and blue belts. Groin guards are
advisory as are chest guards for females. Soft shin protectors are
permitted. Un-graded students may NOT enter this competition. It is
the responsibility of the coach to make sure all entrants have a
valid licence and insurance. Competitors enter this competition at
their own risk and by doing so agree to absolve the WKU of any
claims which may arise due to injury, loss or damage. Each club
entering will be allocated a maximum 2 free coach passes – no
exceptions. Every endeavour will be made to keep to stipulated
categories. However, we reserve the right to change or cancel any
categories of insufficient entry without prior notice. Normal WKF
Rules apply unless otherwise stated. Kata - the following rules
apply: Up to 6th Kyu – Score books – Same Kata may be performed in
each round. 5th Kyu & 4th Kyu - Flag system – a minimum of 2
different Kata must be performed alternately. 3rd to 1st Kyu - Flag
system – a different Kata must be performed in each round. Black
belt – A different Kata must be performed in each round including
team events. Kumite; Knockout system. Entry Fees: Individuals £10,
Senior Male Team £30, All Other Teams £20. Spectators: Adult 16 +
£4.00, Children Age 5-15 £2.00 (Under 5 free). Family (2 Adult, 3
Children U16) £10. Cheques made payable to WKU. Photographic/video
equipment is not permitted around the areas. Registration forms to

06 & 07/05/06 - Shingo Ohgami 7th Dan Wado Course. The Wadokai
Karate Federation Presents: A course for 3rd Kyu and above on
Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of May. It will be hosted by
Sensei Leo McDermott (5th Dan) and Sensei Graham Hall (6th Dan).
Sensei Shingo Ohgami (7th Dan) is our very special guest and will be
accompanied by Sensei Thomas Tosbrunt (5th Dan). The course is being
held at All Saints School, Blair Avenue, Ingleby Barwick, Stockton
on Tees. There are 100 tickets available per day only and it will be
a `first come, first served' basis. The training times will be 10am–
12pm and 1–3pm each day, with a lecture given by Sensei Ohgami on
the Saturday afternoon after training. The cost will be £25 per day,
but if you wish to attend both days, the cost for that will be £40.
We expect the tickets to sell very fast – so if you are interested;
please contact me as soon as possible. It is a ticket only course,
so only people who pay in advance will be able to attend. If you

to U.N.S.U (United Nations Shotokan Union). We organise World
Shotokan Events. We hold the biggest Events, as we accept all
Shotokan Practitioner regardless of Affiliation or Association. We

27/05/06 - S.E.M.K.A./KEMPO-SANKARATE HOLIDAY 2006. COMBE HAVEN

Open to all AIWa members. This is your opportunity to experience a
Karate Holiday that will benefit the whole family at a different
venue to previous years. This time we are going to St Leonards-on
Sea Hastings an hour and half drive from Horsham (sorry Sensei
Dave's students). This means, either a family can come along, or
would be suitable for six or less Adults sharing. All children must
have an adult (over 18 with them). We will be training in the
mornings from 10.00am to 1.00pm from Sunday to Thursday plus
addition Training in the evening in the Sports Hall which leaves the
afternoons and all day Friday for you to do what you want! The two
main Instructors will be myself Sensei Paul Elliott 5th Dan Wado-ryu
and Sensei Dave Parkinson 4th Dan (Kempo-San), Alex McGregor 3rd Dan
and assisted by other Instructors within the two groups. This is a
chance to meet and train with other students and experience other
forms of Karate. Those taking part will gain valuable experience and
it will give you an opportunity to train with others of various
abilities and you will be able to exchange different concepts of
Karate. It would be nice to see a few more students from other clubs
within our group this year. With the discount we get the Holiday
cheaper than other Haven Holidays at that time of year. We try to
add other elements to the training other then what is usually
practice at club level such as Bokken, Nunchaku, Tonfa, Street Self

01/07/06 - Karate England Good Practice & Child Protection Workshop.
To find out more about how your Association/Federation can be more
aware of Child Protection Policies, Whistle-blowing Policy and Duty
of Care, Karate England are running a series of workshops as
follows: Child Protection Course available: Saturday 1st July 2006 2-
5pm at the Hilton Hotel, Dartford Masthead Close, Crossways Business
Park, Dartford, Kent. DA2 6DF. These Workshops will be certified and
will be run by Les Cutting, the Child Protection Officer for Karate
England and who is a recognised Sport Coach UK Instructor. Due to
limited spaces (22), each Workshop will be open to the 'nominated'
Child Protection Officer only. A full pack of Workshop resources
will be distributed on the day. Refreshments will be available upon
arrival. THERE IS NO CHARGE for attending a Workshop. Please return

22/07/06 - AIWa Multi-Art Training Course. This course is to
introduce Students to all the Groups and Instructors of AIWa. The
course is to be lead by Sensei Gary Swift 7th Dan, assisted by Chief
Instructors of each group that are members of AIWa. Students will be
put into groups of 10 to 20 students of their own age and ability
and taught by each Instructor of each group. The course is being
held at Tanbridge School Sports Hall, Guildford Road, Horsham, West
Sussex Saturday 22nd July 9.30am to 1.30pm price £12.00 Seniors
£8.00 Juniors (reduced rates for family's). Open to all ages and
grades. This is the first AIWa group course, so do not miss this
opportunity to train with high grade Instructors and meet new
friends. All the funds raised will go toward arranging an AIWa
course, later on in the year, with Sakagami Sensei in the southern
region. For AIWa Members located in Plymouth, 'limited' transport is
available – so first come, first served – if you require transport
