The current 'proposed' sword ban which 'suggests' there is an
exemption for martial artists and collectors is NOT as forgiving as
it sounds.

The Home Office 'suggest' that only antique samurai swords and
NIHONTO (Japanese made) samurai swords will be permitted for sale.

Nihonto are Japanese made swords made in Japan by registered
swordsmiths, of which will cost from £5,000 to £15,000 PER SWORD. So
with this in mind a Policeman and friend of Barringtons Swords who
just so happens to love samurai swords, called the Home Office.

According to the Home Office, the public response from the
earlier 'consultation' released on the Home Office web site only
received 270 responses. The Home office believes that 270 is a good
number of responses, I'm sorry but I speak to that many sword
collectors/martial artists on a weekly basis. YOU NEED YOUR SAY.

The Home Office actually admitted in the conversation with 'our'
Policeman friend that SCOTLAND will be planning to follow on with
England and BAN swords. So this will mean that we will possibly loose
Hanwei Paul Chen Brand and other well respected sword manufacturers
that provide us as Martial Artist's AFFORDABLE quality swords for our
martial art.

Just to make you a little more annoyed the Home Office are planning
to ban even more types of swords if this ban on samurai swords goes
through.

So if you contact the Home Office you will have a slow and painful
TWENTY DAY wait for a response, if they actually bothered at all.

So to speed things up you will need to speak to Mr. John Batt his
direct email is jonathan.batt@... His direct
number is 0207 0351783

Mr. Jonathan Batt is a genuine person who has asked that if anyone
has valid opinions and constructive criticism please contact him by
email. Please be respectful to Mr. Batt, as he has shown that he is
open to our response.

Thoughts to leave you with. No affordable samurai swords to train
with means NO future students, swords will become financially out of
reach. The law 'suggests' the borrowing, lending & hiring of samurai
swords will be illegal - meaning you will not be able to loan your
friend/fellow student a samurai sword/iaito perhaps for a grading
without becoming a criminal.

This proposed ban threatens our art(s) and I hope you find it within
yourself to contact the Home Office and make your views known.

Yours sincerely,
David Barrington
