Hi readers. I am new too. For me there isn't so much a US dominance of support
groups as there is a lack of UK support groups. What is it with us in the UK
that we don't have our own strong, thriving support groups? Maybe we aren't as
big by a long shot so you wouldn't expect so many of them, since we are some 200
million fewer people. but i have been surprised over the last few years never
ever to come across a few that have a lot of traffic. i was so surprised to see
this one after all this.
i wonder if it isn't a cultural difference. if you look at the kilroy type
programmes it isn't because uk people don't like to share their private lives
these days as there is a lot of that. and it's much more multicultural too. so
do uk people not trust the computer yet? there must be some reason.
And enough peple use computers to sustain it and are wealthy enough, as witness
the cost and popularity of mobile phones here, and a lot of american support
group people are not wealthy from the sound of it.
for anyone who doesn't know, and doesn't want usa based support groups there's
an australian group called fyrenyce which is a very busy world support
bipolar-email group. but it isn't a cuddlywuddly sort of place if someone needs
a whole lot of friendly folks who say nice things (that's what i need).
one more thing, what do you call psychiatrists? i've got used to "pdoc" though i
don't like it, but i really don't care. it is worth abbreviating because as in
texting e-mails are meant to be brief and not perfect english class creations. i
have used psydoc, i don't care, but what do other people use? psychiatrist is a
boring word to have to spell endlessly. thank you for listening. please call me
buggzz.

Welcome to the group, Dr Kath Rowley.
Please feel free to explore the files and links.
This group is small and so we don't have much traffic, but once we reach
critical
mass, the traffic will flow. What is important is to keep accumulating non-US
members so that we don't have to discuss medical insurance issues, keep calling
psychiatrists pdocs and other stuff we can't relate to.
