Re: [BAD_MD] Good Psychiatrists and Some Horrible Ones

Hello Izzie

I wanna tell you more but I don't wanna overload you. Get used to this
"lifestyle change" for a week and then I'll give you more changes to
make.

You are right about the simple carbohydrates and sugars. Try eating
complex carbohydates like chapatis that you find in Indian
restaurants.

Quaker oats are good too and will help you lose the weight you have
put on with the Epilim ~ the oats absorb cholesterol and you pass it
out in your stool.

Fish protein is excellent ~ much better than animal protein, esp. the
fatty cold water fish like salmon and cod which are rich in Omega-3.
Mackerals are great, too, as long as they are fatty. Fish fat is good
for you!

Avoid the ham ~ it is full of preservatives and also smoke-cured stuff
is full of carcinogens.

The reason I want you to avoid sodium is because brain nerve impulses
rely of sodium/potassium reactions. Lithium works by replacing the
sodium as modern diets in general has too much sodium. You can also
start eating potassium-rich food like tomatoes to balance it out.

More in a week. I want you to start feeling some results before
moving to phase two or else you won't be motivated to give it a go.
Keep a journal or diary and please be honest. Write down what works
for you or what you can't give up. The only way to move forward is to
be true to yourself...

*AZLK*

Hello,

I new I would get some truth from you! That is

extremely good advice. I have in the past given up

drinking, and caffeine at different times. I also find

a BIG reaction to carbohydrates including the obvious

one plain sugar (after a mild 'up' reaction I get a

terrible low, as I am sure you will know).

I will try this, luckily I enjoy fruit teas and that

type of thing... I was veggie for 13 years but I

recently changed to eat meat so I could have protein

to avoid the overload of carbs. I eat just a little

pure meat like cold cooked chicken or a little pure

ham. I eat a huge amount of fish, particularly tinned

so that is good I believe. I am quite good on

nutrition and always read the lables... I didn't know

about that preservative though! Thanks.

I will start with this... Excersise is great too...

but it has always been difficult for me to be in

public i.e. join something, or I am often I am in far

too bad a state to lift a limb... but I have started

walking.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for taking the time to write that

out for me as I can use it as a structure for how I

start to approach this.

Izzie (what most people call me) x
