Phew ...well hopefully all the details have been sent out now. Big daughter
drew partners for AmeliaJane and me and mailed them from her email address
so hopefully we will get something of a surprise on Christmas day and Amelia
drew the others and then left me the job of mailing everybody .....whooo
that is so stressful. Hopefully I haven't sent anyone their own details and
hopefully all the matches are secret :-)
Please note that the last posting date is 15th December ...NOT 15th MAY as I
mailed someone lol (that's Amelia's birthday !!). Please let us know when
your parcel arrives as there is nothing worse than worrying that your well
thought out parcel has succumed to the Royal Mail black hole :-(
If anyone wants to look at my Book Mooch page (Vespa there too) or any of my
availables, you may be able to match something on your partners wishlist
...don't spend mooch points, just ask me and I will send it anyway ...I have
too many points as it is lol

Happy hunting and roll on December 25th

Oooh - thank ye kindly fine lasses of MK library!

I am now not in MK for work all week, but let me know when the box is ready for collection and I'll take a trip.

What I suggested was that rather than lots of individual trips to the pub was that we could have a collection box for the lot and hopefully you could pick it towards the end of the week if you're in MK for work.
Also if any MK bc-ers out there want to bring books into the library to go in the box so they don't have to travel themselves. Maybe we could make it more than one box then.

C'mon - bring 'em in! (make your release notes direct to The Rose and Crown, Hartwell, Northants please)

I have just nipped down as I have sorted out another shelf and a half full from my own shelves, although some of these are old and tatty and I will probably get told off for them now!!!  So there are 2 shelves still mostly empty, but if anyone does pop in feel free to replace my tatty books with your better ones!

Quiz night is off for me now, it is always on a Monday from about 9-11pm

We emptied the books from the Rose & Crown OBCZ shelves as they had
all been read, and I took a box of books back the next day but only
filled a couple of shleves up of the 6.

I was told by the pub owner that if I couldn't refil the rest of the
shelves pretty darn quick then he will take the books there away and
not bother with the shelf anymore - so if I am to carry on I need
books quick. Preferrably already registered and released to the pub
so they are not all from me. Half of me says stuff it why bother, but
then again I like having them there!

If you have any books but don't want tp go in the pub on your own,
they I can take them in - or perhaps collect some when out at work
next week.

Please help!

BCMKN group:

If there's enough interest, I'm hoping to organise another meet-up at
Summersault Café in Rugby. I'm happy to organise a daytime meet, as before, or a
late afternoon/evening meet-up so we can eat, drink, swap books and chat whilst
listening to a jazz pianist. So there's a choice of dates and whether it's
daytime or an evening meet. Please vote if you're interested in coming along.
You can vote for one or more choices. The one with the most votes wins. Hope to
see you there!

o I'd like to attend a DAYTIME meet at Summersault on Saturday 5th December.
o I'd like to attend an EVENING meet at Summersault on Saturday 5th December.
o I'd like to attend a DAYTIME meet at Summersault on Saturday 19th December.

Firstly, I have two possible dates to suggest:

Saturday 5th December OR Saturday 19th December

I'm pretty flexible about times etc... we could either have a daytime meet like last time, or we could meet later on, and eat our food and chat and look through the book selection etc.., whilst listening to a jazz pianist! The evening thing starts at 7pm but we could meet up earlier than this if people wanted, and do a spot of shopping and have a look around the charity shops or whatever, have a drink somewhere perhaps, and then go on Summersault.

Please let me know if you're interested and I'll get more information from Summersault if we do decide to do the evening thing. I noticed on their website it says something about a sharing menu. I don't know what that is!

Here's a link to their website. This should take you straight to the calendar part, where I got the details of the jazz piano thing.

http://www.summersault.ltd.uk/Calendar.htm

I'll set up a poll and, depending on interest, I'll get started on arranging the meet. Hoope to see you there :-)

It was a lovely day, and really nice to see everyone. Must do it all again soon.
Perhaps another meet at Rugby's Summersault Café if there's enough interest?

I got a wild catch from the release walk on Saturday. Someone was riding through
the forest on horseback, saw a few books there and picked one up. They have now
joined bookcrossing.com!

Whadaya mean small! I counted 17 adults, 7 kids and 4 dogs, even if they weren't
all there all the time. (and 200+books)

Hi Aly and Catherine
I'm glad you all had a good dayand that the release walk went ahead and you got some new folks there. I hope I get some of that good weather tomorrow as I'm leading a group of walkers. Today is rather wet though it does look as though its starting to brighten up. Hopefully I'll see you all soon.
Cheers

Hear hear, it was a lovely day and how lucky were we with the weather?! I
thoroughly enjoyed it and was glad to see we weren't prevented from releasing in
the end. It was also great to see some new faces plus plenty of animals and
infants!

A message for all planning to attend tomorrows Salcey Forest meet. As we always
get more books released than could possibly fill the OBCZ and sometimes even
more than we need for a release walk I was hoping folks might make their
releases to a couple of alternate locations then still bring them along to be
taken to their new home.
Today Weebly and I completely cleared the old stuff from The Rose and Crown OBCZ
in Hartwell as a lot of it had been sitting for some time, so it now needs
refilling.
So if you could make some of your releases to The Rose and Crown we'll have
boxes ready and everyone can still have a rummage if there's something they
particularly want to take home. Also releases for MK Library are always welcome,
will have a box for that too.

See you tomorrow,
Kathy/ Korky

Well, I seem to have managed to get the approval we needed now  - and the permission is in place for quarterly repeats of the event so no need to keep filling out forms.  They accepted that I have no insurance and no risk assessment.  All becasue of 1 complaint on the Forestry Commission website!

As an aside - I met artist Linda Johns yesterday, the programme Escape to the Country contacted her due to her sculptures at the Forest and asked her to show them round the forest for the programme.  When she got there though all they really wanted was to film bookcrossing in action - so they took books from the Forest Cafe and wild released them in secluded areas of the Forest.  They also made Linda ride a bike (which they hired for the day) for the film too.  Now if only they had asked the Weebly Family they could have had Bikes and Books all ready prepared!

See you guys tomorrow.

There's an idea! maybe we should abandon Salcey and meet regularly at Westminster 'cos they definitely aren't big on form filling are they?
I can't make it to the next meet I'm afraid on 7th, but I will be thinking of you all.

Actually - hold your horses - the document on reading carefully says I
am obliged to take out insurance for the event - which is obviously
ridiculous - I am just querying this before I sign.

Does anyone have any idea how much insurance for a walk in the woods
scattering a few books would be?????

I, Rosalind Claire Mitchell, being acting returning officer for the

Portillo, Michael Exayvier...

Oh, sorry, wrong document.

Chester: 21 votes

Nottingham: 34 votes

Swindon: 35 votes

And so I declare that Swindon is duly selected as the venue for the UK

Thank you.

Risk assessments? INSURANCE? For a WALK AROUND A FOREST?!?! What world do these
people live in? Salcey meets have always gone off fantastically and without a
hitch, until some unbalanced individual decided to stick his nose in. I can't
believe how ridiculous this is getting.

Still trying to figure out what risks are posed to us by a release walk.
Drowning in a puddle? Slipping on a book? Good grief.

See you on the 7th! Bookcrossers and proud!
