A meet at the Dolphin sounds good, I've never been there and every time I drive
past I think how someone should organise a meet! So count me in.

Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
BCMKN group:

A few people have expressed an interest in attending a meet-up at Dolphin Café
in Towcester, so I've decided to set up a poll. If there's enough interest I'll
get a meet organised. Dolphin is an official Bookcrossing zone, so it would be
nice to add books to the shelf and to keep it well stocked. Vote for all dates
you can attend and the one with the most votes wins. Happy voting!

   o Saturday 8th October
   o Saturday 22nd October
o I'm unable to make either date

To vote, please visit the following web page:
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/BCMKN/surveys?id=3063157

Note: Please do not reply to this message. Poll votes are
not collected via email. To vote, you must go to the Yahoo! Groups
web site listed above.

Thanks!

I know this isn't exactly on topic but i thought i'd just let you know that
Alzheimer's Society is doing a Memory Walk at Willen Lake at 2pm on 25th
September if anyone is interested in coming along. There will be a stall there
with goods made from our arts and crafts groups and lots of people intend to eat
picnics (weather dependent) once the walk is completed. For further info, visit

http://www.memorywalk.org.uk/site/custom_scripts/memorywalk.php?memorywalkID=23

and those that register online get a free t-shirt! :0)

it's not a problem...it's on every year and we've got over 40 people registered
to take part this year so far but it's always worth sharing in case someone else
is interested or want to find out more about the amenities available in Milton
Keynes for someone they know :0)

Will be seeing you in Nottingham Jean, just have to leave a bit earlier than you
so i can work on the Sunday xx

Oh good that'll be another face I know then. Its my 1st Uncon and I'm incredibly nervous about it and am stressing about my train journey as I have to change at Leicester and have about 4 mins to get to the train. Maybe I should go into training and start running up and down the stairs with my bags.
Hope you're enjoying yr work and that all goes well at the event.

The following BCMKN poll is now closed. Here are the
final results:

POLL QUESTION: As there were only 6 of us at the last Salcey meet, we have 5
suggested titles for the next book to be discussed around November time. We
thought it would be fairer for those who couldn't make it if we set up a poll.
That way everyone gets to vote. Please pick the book you want to discuss from
the following list. The one with the most votes wins. If it's a draw, I'll
have to rethink. This poll will close in 2 weeks. Happy voting!

The results are in and 80% of voters chose the earlier date of 8th October for
the meet at Dolphin Café, so that's the one we'll go for!

Meet details are as follows:

Dolphin Café
175 Watling Street West
Towcester NN12 6BX

Tel 01327 350 808

Start time: 12.30

Parking: There are parking spaces directly opposite the café, although these
spaces are very popular and can't be guaranteed, so I'd recommend heading to the
nearby Waitrose car park on Richmond Road (For sat nav users: NN12 6HZ), as it's
only a short walk away, spaces are plentiful and you can park there for three or
four hours free of charge.

Dolphin Café is a lovely venue and the food is very good. I'll book us a table
asap, so if you're interested please let me know if you'd like to attend, so I
know roughly how many to book the table for.

I'll hope to see you there!

Hi y'all,

I've had problems with Dolphin Café... Basically they don't want to reserve us a
table for the meet, which is a bit annoying but I suppose they don't want to
turn people away and then not have us show up. Or something. Not sure tbh. I'm
going to arrive there a bit before the meet start time of 12.30 and keep a
table, and Retromonkey said she would try to do the same if she can. Anyone else
who could get there early on and would be willing to order a drink and save a
table for friends, it would be a great help! I've never encountered this before,
so I really hope it'll all work out and we end up sitting together. Mind you, if
the worst came to the worst, more of us could sit together as and when other
customers leave. By my figures we should have a minimum of 10 at the meet.

I mentioned we were bookcrossers and they asked how many books we would be
bringing along, as they have plenty already ;-) I said we wouldn't flood them
out. Obviously if anyone from other BC zones would like to take a few for their
own shelves if we do end up with quite a few then that'd be great. Other nearby
zones include The Monk & Tipster (literally across the road from Dolphin!), The
Red Lion at Fosters Booth, Salcey Forest and MK Library.

Also, don't forget to keep a book or two to one side for the bookswap game. I've
got two reserved!

See you on Saturday.

I'm not that surprised that they wont hold a table... I've been in there on a
Saturday before and they get very busy...they wont want to put regulars off by
sending them away when there is an empty table there for them to see....anyways
I'm sure you'll work it all out and it'll go well. Not able to make this one,
hope you all have lots of fun! :0)

a table for the meet, which is a bit annoying but I suppose they don't want to
turn people away and then not have us show up.
By my figures we should have a minimum of 10 at the meet.

bringing along, as they have plenty already ;-) I said we wouldn't flood them

I've got two reserved!

Well, the year seems to be rolling around faster than ever and it's time to
organise the next Salcey meet. As usual I'll do a poll and pick the most popular
choice, so get voting!

Hi all,

A belated thank you to everyone who came along and supported the recent meet at
Dolphin Café in Towcester on 8th October!

There were twelve of us in the end, and we *were* able to sit down ;-)

Attendees were: Willowfae, Isisjem, Darkhorse4460, Retromonkey, Assassin8er,
MarthaK-H, Weebly, Korky, Puss in Books (and her strapping fella ;-)) and last
but certainly not least, JemmaJ (lovely to meet you!)

It made a nice change to try somewhere new but Dolphin Café are not particularly
supportive of bookcrossing, AND the food was very disappointing so I won't be
arranging another meet-up there in the foreseeable future. No loss though, as
there are a few more places nearby for us to frequent which *are* pro BC and
have good food.

Still, I was really pleased so many of us made it along to the meet and looking
forward to getting together again soon. See you at Salcey if I can make it. I've
just voted.

Hee hee, my fella (Chris) will be very pleased to be described as 'strapping'!
We both had a lovely time and I've been ploughing through all the books I took
away, a particularly good crop this time I thought. I'm pleased to say I read
one of the many copies of Chris Cleave's The Other Hand - isn't it good?!
If you were thinking about meeting somewhere else, I'd be up for another Rugby
meet at Summersault, I thought it was a lovely place with great food (and plenty
of charity shops nearby to tempt those who can never have enough books, i.e. all
of us!).

See you all soon at Salcey!

Hi all,

2 things:

1) I just wanted to remind anyone who's interested that the book chosen to
discuss at the next Salcey meet is 'Witness the Night' by Kishwar Desai.

2) Also, again for anyone who's interested - this Thursday on BBC4 is the first
instalment of 'The Slap'.

Best wishes
