About Richard Marcel LISTD - Choreographer:
Richard is a versatile, multi-style choreographer and has worked with
artists such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue, George Michael, Diana Ross and
recently with Tom Jones, Lulu and Alesha Dixon. He is also resident
choreographer for Strictly Come Dancing and recently choreographed the BBC1
hit dance series 'Let's Dance...for Comic Relief'.

Salsa: Richard is supremely passionate about authentic Latin music and
dance. He started learning Latin dance at the age of 12 and made his first
TV appearance at the World Latin Dance Championships a year later. In 1996
he was among the first to teach Mambo and Salsa in the UK and was
subsequently invited to lecture for the IDTA and ISTD at their dance
congresses and meetings all over the country. In 1992 Richard moved to
Manchester where he set up some of the first salsa classes and Latin club
nights in the north of England. He was also one of the first salsa DJ's at
Manchester's Copacabana salsa club. In 1997 Richard was selected to work on
a salsa teaching video with Kerry Ribchester for SalsaWorld magazine which
was filmed on location in Havana, Cuba during which he performed alongside
some of their best dancers and choreographers. Being a musician and
percussionist Richard was also invited to play with one of Havana's Son
bands. In 1998 Richard set up the Salsa Heat dance company, to which members
included Susana Montero and Leon Rose. Incidentally, Leon's first ever show
was with Salsa Heat for the Princess Diana Memorial Concert at the Royal
Albert Hall. Richard went on to open the Elite Stage & Dance School in the
south of England and run his own chain of salsa club nights. He has also
been invited, on many occasions, to teach and perform at various salsa
weekenders and congresses in the UK and abroad. In 2006 Richard
choreographed a European promotional film for Havana Club Rum which included
the best Cuban dancers in the UK. In 2007 Richard became the main Salsa
choreographer on BBC Strictly Come Dancing. He was recently invited, for a
second time, to commentate for the Monaco Salsa Festival on the British
Eurosport channel.

Teaching: Richard's teaching ability has been regarded as 'unique' by his
peers. His knowledge, passion and respect for all dance genres coupled with
his own unique and charismatic style has contributed towards his success as
one of the most well respected dance teachers in the UK. Having worked at
the top dance colleges in the country, Richard spends most of his teaching
career training professional dance students, teachers and examiners. He has
been very active in promoting authentic Latin and Jazz dance rhythms in the
ballroom dancing world and in 2005 was presented with the prestigious
Imperial Dancesport Award by the ISTD. He is currently writing a new and
unique ISTD professional salsa examination in collaboration with Susana
Montero which will provide comprehensive training for existing and potential
salsa dance teachers. This examination is now being supported by some of the
best Salsa teachers in the world.

Dance and exercise your way to fitness with DanZante exercise and fitness
workouts.

DanZante is a new concept in leisure activity and is based on a structured
system of development. Our system incorporates a variety of different dance
styles and movement including Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Merengue, Reggaeton, Hip-hop,
Jazz and elements of Martial Arts, to a variety of different musical influences.

DanZante is a fantastic way to develop cardio, strength, flexibility, tone,

This Salsa Course is AIMED AT students who are SEEKING a foundation
in basic step, rhythm and timing. The COURSE focuses on the
fundamentals of Salsa: basics, patterns, footwork, turns and technique,
which include proper posture, balance, and upper/lower body
coordination.

Level 2: £55/person ( £9/lesson of 1 hr and 1/2)
This Course is geared to students with a solid, comprehensive
foundation in the basics (balance, posture, upper/lower body
coordination, weight transfer, cross body). You will learn lead/follow
techniques, transitions, and
space management to moderate music.If you already have a sold
understanding of the basics then you're ready for this class.

Level 3: £55/person ( £9/lesson of 1 hr and 1/2)
This quality training programme is for students with a well developed
foundation in Salsa who are willing to learn more complex patterns,
shines and emphasis on styling for Ladies and Gentles.  If you're
ready to take the next step, this course is for you!

DanZante is a new concept in leisure activity and is based on a structured
system of development. Our system incorporates a variety of different dance
