Windsave - the storey so far....   Message List

Re: Windsave - the storey so far....now upgraded.

Well the fitters have been and fitted a new gridtie converter about
two months ago, and it has only generated 2kW since, not good.

The cut in speed of the convertor is around 200volts, too high, I've
been experimenting and have found that the turbine starts to really
produce power from 70v up. Turbine spends lots of time turning, but
often not fast enought to do anything useful.

I think when the leaves are off the trees, it will go back to
producing more power, but alas it really does need a taller tower.

As it is, I don't see the Windsave turbine as worthwhile unless you
can install it in clean airflow - i.e. if you live on the coast.

I've more success with solar, water heating and solar electric pv,
will update soon.

Clive :-))

The Windsave produced 0.8kWh from this time yesterday, and 5.2 kwh total since it was installed, so it's working, would definately be better on a taller tower...
