...Launched to the local community.
Hi All,
Sunday July the 8th is the village Fete, I'll will have a stand
there with various solar panels etc, to take the energy debate to
the community at which it is aimed.
Remember, this group is not about 'saving the planet', it's about
giving the local community a meeting point, at which they can
discuss their own individual situation, as regards how they can deal
with runaway energy prices and the impending high un-employment that
will come as industries - such as the airlines, close down due to
the non-availability of cheap fuel.
In this motor car/industrial age, people operate outside the local
community to the point that it's almost forgotten. As cheap energy
runs out, people will once again have to turn to the local community
to meet their needs, for instance, the local farmers presently may
grow bulk crops to be sent hundreds of miles across the country,
with fertilizer manufactured from cheap fossil fuel and trucked in
from hundreds of miles away. As cheap energy runs out, ultra long
distance trucking will cease, and the local farmer will once again
have to become the local farmer, not a cog in a huge industrialised
machine. Fertiliser will come from our gardens, collected from the
villagers perhaps by a converted electric milk float, and ploughed
in to the field by a tractor perhaps running on waste vegetable oil,
also collected from local households, thanks to a tank fitted to
said electric float.
The challenge facing all of us is to adapt at a local level, the
technology necessary to enable us to live and enjoy our lives, as
cheap energy runs out.
