Re: [Beyond_cheap_fuel] Re: wind generator

Ken,

I am interested in gasification to produce woodgas, have almost finished
building a gasifiers which

will burn the woodgas to heat water for my house heating system, I plan
to use wood chips which

the tree service people give away as they have no use for them.

As the wood chips are usually wet and have a high water content it is best
to reduce the water content

in the wood to improve the gasification.

I am also building a dryer for wood chips, I was testing it yesterday with
promising results, at a later

stage in development I want to be produce engine quality gas to power a
generator.

I also have designed and built a wood chipper to make my own chip for when I
cut my own trees.

I do not tell people about my projects as even a few of my friends are nay
sayers at times

I think they would be pleased if some project failed !.

I have to second Geoff my word if I had been put off by some of the nay
sayers around me I never would have got my. 1.7kw solar farm up or my 2 100
cell hho genys put together to help make my gas suckers go a little bit more
down the road. Or my 3 VAWTs from putting out about 2kws together after it
taking almost 2 years to find the parts and build them. By the way heres a
couple of excellent links on the subject of turbines http://www.youtube.

Paul,

There are a considerable number of people who have built or are building

wind generators, do not be put off by the negative views, do your research

and make one, it is not necessary to achieve the maximum efficiency as the

wind is free, you do not have to be a large organisation with a big budget.

If you look at some of the groups you will be surprised to see what people

are doing and making in home workshops!

You can email me direct if you wish

What sort of wind speeds do you get? I guess you might need something in the order of 3/4feet diameter. Time to go window shopping on ebay! How much weight can...

Paul One thing you should remember is the speed control or regulator to avoid over speeding in heavy wind. Without knowing the subject, I would think a hobby...
