Yup, It's about time this group was started. Thanks Clive. I'm glad
to see I'm not the only one around that thinks this way.
Oh yes, I'm an US citizen but I don't own one of those rediculasly
oversized SUV's. I actually prefer to ride a bicycle most of the time
instead of driving our car but am I one of the opposite end that sits
around hugging trees either. I'm just an average person that does see
the writing on the wall and doesn't understand why everone around me
can't.
Be that as it may, I'm trying to do the same things as you but I'm
just getting started. As I understand your home page this group is
about what we as INDIVIDUALS ARE doing to try to survive in the
upcoming lack (and high prices) of fuel supplies?
I'm planning and setting up a number of small power sources in my
back yard , almost all solar powered (hot water type). None of these
are going to put out more than a couple hundred watts max but I plan
to make a bunch of them. I'm using a 15' by 75' strip, half of my
backyard (over half is garden) for what ever I can use that generate
electricity from various type of solar power primarily. I live in a
neighborhood and windmills are pretty much out of the picture except
for very small ones less than 35' high (wouldn't even clear the local
trees) - I plan to use 4 of them in a row about 25' high down the
middle of my back yard anyway - a little power is better than none as
far as I'm concerned.
Some examples of what I'm doing can be seen here:
