Saturdays Exhibition   Message List

Although Saturdays exhibition seemed quiet I think we were all kept
busy talking mostly throughout the day either with members of the
public or just catching up with friends. Ron had an impressive display
of model aircraft (?) and a tv/video kept members and public amused
with various videos of the pond's activities and the odd WW2 B&W
documentary. I was kept on my toes with plenty of questions about
barges. Stephen Gooch's DFDS Dan Regina also caused a lot of interest.
For me personally seeing Michael Frettin's "Vic 76" in it's half built
stage was a highlight. At first glance she looks like a Clyde Puffer.
Used for victualing the navy at the end of WW2 the original was built
at Rowhedge 1945 so had plenty of local interest. The Royal Navy was
there in the form of John's Invincible and Toby's fleet (including a
couple of Flower Class corvettes. Brian brought along a couple of
working static steam plants and his steam powered tug "Cruiser" as
well as the beautiful Martin Howes and Bayliss Swiss lakes river boat.
This is just a taster of what was there. Well we only have to wait
another two years...........!!
