AN 18-year-old has received five months in prison for breaching an Asbo and various driving offences.
Mark Bevan, of Calverley Close, Beckenham, pled guilty to two counts of breaching an Asbo, two counts of driving whilst disqualified and one count of driving without insurance at Bromley Magistrates Court on February 12.
He was sentenced to four months for each count of driving whilst disqualified and four months for one count of the Asbo breach, to be served concurrently.
Bevan also received an additional month-long prison sentence for a further Asbo breach to be served consecutively.
He also received six penalty points on his licence for driving without insurance.
Bevan was given the Asbo by Bromley Magistrates Court on
He had already been disqualified from driving by the same court on
On July 28 last year, Bevan was riding a moped along
Both Bevan and the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and were hospitalised.
Bevan was so badly injured he was not identified for some time and the pedestrian, a 43-year-old man from Llandeilo, in Dyfed, was in hospital for two weeks with a fractured skull, broken neck, broken leg and multiple cuts and bruises.
On December 26, shortly after Bevan's release from hospital, police received an emergency call from a resident stating he was driving erratically around Calverley Close, Beckenham.
Bevan and his passenger were pursued by officers from the Copers Cope Safer Neighbourhood Team before leaving the vehicle and fleeing.
Bevan was eventually arrested and charged at his home on January 3.
He later appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody, ahead of further hearings.
He appeared at the court again via video link on January 10 and 15.
Bevan remained in custody until his appearance at the court on February 12 where he entered his guilty pleas.
Chief Inspector Marshall Kent, who is in charge of the borough's Safer Neighbourhood Teams, said: "I would like to commend the Copers Cope Safer Neighbourhood Team for all of their work during this very complex and protracted investigation.
"This individual has shown scant regard for the law, consistently breaching his Asbo and ignoring driving bans imposed on him by the courts.
"This case should serve as a warning that this type of behaviour is unacceptable and we will continue to target it and bring people to account for their actions."
Bevan's Asbo also prohibited him from:
· Using insulting, abusive or offensive
· language or behaviour to harrass, alarm or distress people
· Igniting fireworks in a public place
· Using of possessing cannabis in a public place
