Re: Pool River Walk   Message List

Hi All,

I'd like to personally back this up, as I often use this walkway to walk with my kids to Cator Park.
I also walk another part of it from Lower Sydenham station through to Kent House Lane, and although I've not experienced any actual incidents and am not easily spooked, it is a route that really gives me the shivers as it is very dark and there are several unobserved places where you could easily be attacked and/or mugged, where screams would almost certainly not be heard by anyone.  I would never let my daughters walk down it, even during daylight.

I would certainly hope that some sort of measure could be made to reduce the danger in this area.

Best Rgds, Dave

Subject: Pool River Walk

Thank you for the information sent to us about the NWA in Bromley.  It is good to know about it and that there is concern for safety in the Borough.

My particular concern is Pool River Walk which is a walkway from Lennard Road to Kangley Bridge Road/Cricket Lane/Kent House Lane. It is also part of Cycle Route 21.

I frequently used this walkway as it is a delightful path - by the river and away from the traffic.

However, on 10th September 2007 at about 13:10 as I walking along there, I was accosted by a man who stole my handbag.  This was in broad daylight on a beautiful sunny day at lunchtime. Fortunately I was not injured in the attack. This has completely destroyed my confidence to go along Pool River Walk alone.

I am writing to ask if CCTV can be installed along Pool River Walk.  The Lennard Road end of the path is close to Cator Park Girls School and I just wonder how long it will be before a girl is attacked.  Maybe girls have been attacked and I do not know about it.

I notice that further along Cycle Route 21 in Lewisham from the rear of Sainsbury at Bell Green, Sydenham through to Catford  CCTV is already in operation.

I do not know if CCTV recommendation comes within your remit.  If you are not the right people then please forward this email to whoever arranges CCTV

Thanks
