Police Appeal For Bakery Killing Witness
Police have appealed for a man who witnessed the killing of a teenager at a London bakery to come forward.
The white, middle-aged man holds "vital information" about the death of Jimmy Mizen, police said.
The 16-year-old was found with serious neck injuries in Lee, south east London on Saturday.
His grieving parents Barry and Margaret described the attack as "pure aggression" against a "gorgeous and loving boy".
Paramedics and the air ambulance were called to the Three Cooks bakery at around midday but Jimmy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Barry Mizen said he was told that his son bled to death after being stabbed in the neck in an act of "mindless violence".
Mr Mizen said: "The message that will be going out is that Jimmy was a great, gorgeous and loving boy.
"He was just a fine young fellow and that's all I can say."
Al Patel, who works at Lee Pharmacy next door to the bakery, said another teenage boy had become aggravated after being asked to leave the shop and had smashed the window with an A-board sign outside.
He said Jimmy had then intervened to try to calm the situation down.
Police are now trying to ascertain how the teenager's injuries were caused.
DCI Cliff Lyons said: "This is another tragic incident where a young victim has lost his life, and our sympathies are with his family and friends.
"There was an argument between Jimmy and the suspect, following which Jimmy was assaulted and he sustained serious neck injuries.
"The suspect, described as a male youth, made off from the scene up Burnt Ash Hill towards Burnt Ash Lane.
"I would urge anyone who was in and around the Burnt Ash Hill area at the time of the incident to call us at our incident room with any information they may have."
