Bogus Callers
Two males posing as plain clothes police officers and showing fake ID, are operating in the Penge area. Two offences occurred between 1800-1930hrs, and another at 1040hrs
Both are white approx.age 30, one is about 5ft 8_ _ 6ft. The other is distinctive in that he is described as about 5ft 6_ stocky (_no neck_) and has different coloured eyes or a squint. Please report to police any sightings of two males fitting these descriptions, and do not allow anyone access to your property unless you are absolutely certain of their identity.
Vehicle Crime
Vehicle crime continues to be a problem in Southern Sector, namely Chelsfield and the Green St Green side of Orpington where intelligence suggests that VW cars are being targeted.
In the Crays and Ramsden areas there have been 35 offences in the last 2 weeks excluding criminal damage. 24 were _theft from_ and 11 were _theft of_ vehicles.
Just over 60% took place overnight but there is no pattern to pinpoint. Intelligence suggests that vehicles with satellite navigation systems are now being targeted.
There have also been a large number of offences reported as criminal damage. In the Cray the majority are malicious acts rather than attempts to steal. One area reported to be badly affected recently is

Please remove music players and satallite navigation systems from your vehicles, when you park.
Please do not leave anything on display, and leave glove compartments open and empty.
Please fit anti-theft devices to older vehicles, steering locks for example do act as deterrents to thiefs.
Good News
Our personal safety advice given out before Christmas seems to have had a significant effect, our figures indicate a reduction, on last year_s number of incidents of injury to the person, Town centre officers made 100 arrests during December and the New year period for volume crime including theft, drugs, graffiti and public order offences.
During a four day operation in the Mottingham area, 11 arrests were made by Central Sector officers for motor vehicle crime, primarily joy riding. The majority have been charged or cautioned.
An operation running in Penge for the last few weeks, has resulted in Bromley officers making 32 arrests for motor vehicle crime, drug offences and burglary. More updates on this operation will follow in subsequent newsletters.
Central Sector officers in partnership with Bromley Council have successfully secured a two-year Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) against Sanchez Williams aged 17 from Downham.
Under the order Sanchez must not:
· Use threatening, racist, foul or abusive words or behaviour towards anyone in Bromley Borough
· Damage or threaten to damage other people_s property in
· Be in a group of more than three people whose presence and behaviour is likely to harass, alarm or distress anyone in the above streets.
· Enter
· Associate with certain named people in any public place
- Touch or enter any vehicle without the owner_s permission
If he breaches the ASBO, he could be imprisoned for up to five years. Sanchez has terrorised his neighbourhood, and Bromley Police have welcomed the issue of this order by Bromley Magistrates Court, as an effective measure to control the criminal and anti social behaviour of Sanchez Williams.
Members of the public should contact police if they see Sanchez breaching his ASBO, which runs until December 2007. Other members of Sanchez_ gang are being pursued , updates will be included in subsequent newsletters.
