Re: [BromleyNWA] Man in a car - Poplar Avenue, Orpington

Steve,

Not heard this one before but we all know that the normal British male does NOT stop to ask directions, ever!.  Also, I know someone who had a Colostomy bag and he wouldn't have dreamed of admitting that to a stranger in the street, especially an elderly lady.  Another friend had polio as a youngster but walked with callipers, not crutches although, I guess, the disease may affect different people in different ways.  All in all, I'd view this incident with some suspicion, personally.

Subject: [BromleyNWA] Man in a car - Poplar Avenue, Orpington

My elderly neighbour spoke to me this morning about an incident on 12
November in the afternoon. She was approaching her house when a man in
his 40's opened his car passenger door and asked her the location of
the nearest toilet. He said he had a (collostomy) bag and it was full
and needed emptying. There are shops and pubs at Locksbottom which is
less than a mile away. He had, what appeared to be, crutches on the
front passenger seat and told her that he had polio as a youngster. He
offered her a lift to where she was going as "she was so kind". She
politely turned him down. This incident is probably completely innocent
but clearly worried my neighbour who is 80. I said I would look at the
NWA and check to see if there were any further reports.

Steve
