with
Lucia Walker

Greenside Church, Royal Terrace, Edinburgh
 Sun  November 13  2pm-5.30pm  Cost £20/ £15

All welcome. Bookings & deposit essential to secure a place.

Lucia is based in Oxford but travels and teaches widely, exploring a lifelong delight in movement and communication. She first encountered Contact Improvisation in 1983 in workshops with Steve Paxton and with Kirstie Simson. She has been practising and teaching the form since 1985 studying and working with Nancy Stark Smith, Kirstie Simson and Julyen Hamilton amongst others. Lucia worked for many years with Jointwork Dance Group exploring improvised performance and continued this research with Telling Times International Theatre project. She has also worked on performance collaborations with other artists and dancers .
In 1987 Lucia qualified as a teacher of Alexander Technique and teaches the technique to individuals, groups and on teacher training programmes in England, Germany, US and Japan. She has studied a range of theatre and movement techniques but Contact Improvisation and Alexander Technique remain the strongest influences and underlie her approach to teaching and performance work.

In teaching Lucia is especially interested in accessing  natural playfulness, ease of movement and presence.

Dancing alone, in pairs and as a group you will have the opportunity to explore the range and qualities of your personal dance as well as developing your abilities to be soft and strong, supported and supportive, active and responsive, lively and calm.
