Dear fellow teachers of contact improvisation,
Greetings from Nancy Stark Smith and Martin Keogh in Massachusetts, USA!
We’re writing to invite you to join us for CITE 2006, a 4 1/2-day Contact Improvisation Teachers Exchange that we will be facilitating at the rural Earthdance retreat center in western Massachusetts, from Thursday, June 27th until Sunday, July 2nd. (Followed directly by Earthdance’s annual July 4th Jam.)
CITE is not a teacher’s training but a chance for active, experienced contact teachers to come together with peers for a facilitated inquiry and exchange.
Our desire is to create a balance between:
*** Activity—working physically with the material
*** Discussion
*** Dancing
*** Unstructured time
Possible themes and activities:
*** The core proposition of contact improvisation—what is it?
*** Exchanging teaching material that centers on this core proposition
*** Addressing and “labbing” current questions and challenges
*** Discussing philosophical and practical issues involved in our teaching
*** And plenty of time to dance together
As contact events all over the world continue to grow in numbers of participants, we look forward to an intimate, focused, yet relaxed environment in which to pursue our passions and our puzzles in teaching Contact.
The PDF of the brochure is now available at www.earthdance.net/cite.htm. Or contact Nancy at contactq@... or Martin at martinkeo@.... Please feel free to pass this invitation along to anyone currently teaching C.I.
We hope to see and dance with you there!
Martin and Nancy
