PERFORMING UNPLUGGED
April 24-28
11am to 5pm
In this five-day workshop we will explore solo and duet improvisation using movement and language as a performance practice.
q Attention will be given to form and structure rather than content.
q Solo and duet skills will be established.
q We will work with simple focuses of attention, and develop a sense of texture.
q We will explore skills in the transformation of language forms into movement forms and vice versa.
q Emphasis will be given to the skills attached to the performer following their own interests and pleasure in performance.
q We will work beyond the conventions of scenario, narrative and dramaturgy to develop insights into the nature of form.
These methods lead to a clarified understanding of personal aesthetics and create a space for participants to develop their own style in the use of language and movement.
There will be regular opportunities to perform during the workshop.

ACTION THEATRE
Introductory Workshop and Classes
with Kate Hilder
Workshop: Sunday 23rd April, 11am - 5pm
10 Week Evening Course: Wednesdays 26th April - 28th June, 7pm to 9.30pm
ACTION THEATRE is a starting point for body-oriented theatre improvisation, which develops movement, vocal and language skills. We will play with simple physical and vocal exercises which will challenge us to be present to our moment-by-moment experience. We will fine-tune our awareness of physical sensation, intuition and the imagination, explore the formal elements of space, shape and time and develop our performance skills: listening, relationship and composition. Action Theatre encourages spontaneous expression, allowing students to uncover hidden personal material and gain insight into who they are. This course is suitable for dancers/actors wishing to develop their performance presence and anyone interested in discovering new forms of self-expression.
