Contact Improvisation with Chris Aiken & Angie Hauser

Contact improvisation is a partnering dance form in which participants
communicate improvisational impulses through touch and weight.  In
these workshops Chris and Angie will lead participants through
exercises and practices which ultimately lead to joyful, fearless
dancing for dancers of all levels.  Participants will learn specific
technical skills to support their dancing as well as practices which
heighten their poetic sense of this form. It is possible to attend all
3 days, single days or mornings.
Cost: 3 Day Workshop (Tue/Wed/Thur) 10am-5pm): £70/£60; Morning classes
(10am-12.30pm): £12-£10; All day classes (10am-5pm): £25-£20. Prior

Chris Aiken is one of the leading teachers and practitioners of dance
improvisation and contact improvisation in the world, with over
twenty-five years of experience.  He has taught and performed with many
of the leading pioneers of contact, including:  Steve Paxton, Nancy
Stark Smith, Kirstie Simson, Andrew Harwood, Peter Bingham, Ray Chung
and Karen Nelson.   Chris is known for his powerful performances that
inspire and challenge audiences through his high-risk, gravity-defying
dancing and his ability to create theater through movement. 
 
Angie Hauser is a dance artist and teacher whose work is grounded in
improvisation and performance.  Her interests and practices reflect the
influences of postmodern choreography, contact improvisation, ballet,
yoga and Butoh.  She is a member of the Bebe Miller Company, where she
contributes to the creation of award winning dance works that are
performed throughtout the United States.  As an improviser she
collaborates with many gifted artists including Chris Aiken, Lisa
Gonzales, Darrell Jones, K.J. Holmes and Kathleen Hermesdorf.
