Professional Development Opportunities @ Dance House

Friday Dance Cocktails

Dance House is bringing together a mix of Creative Labs, Works in Progress and a chance to discuss them all over a special Dance House cocktail.

Creative Labs

Dance House Creative Labs provide practical support for established artists to explore new ideas and methods, as well as creative and career mentoring for emerging artists.

Mon 30 Oct – Fri 3 Nov : Anna Krzystek

In this residency Anna will begin work on STILL, the second in a series of solo pieces that follow on from TEST. STILL exists on a fine line between performance and installation. It explores the openness of an installation whilst still utilizing structural tensions found in theatre and film.

Mon 6 – Fri 10 Nov : Martial Dance

Martial Dance will develop the choreographic base for their next piece ‘Action and Reaction’ and will investigate the idea that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Mon 20 – Fri 24 Nov : Saul Garcia

Saul will explore and develop the foundations of a new framework for approaching dance and digital interactive technology – Post Human Dance. This explores movement and dance by establishing a technological bridge between body and audience user.

Mon27 Nov – Fri 1 Dec : Natasha Gilmore

Dance House’s new Dance Artist in Residence will be working with a number of dance artists and a film maker to develop an idea for a dance film entitled ‘Late’.

Working with a range of people with different life experiences will inform this project in the devising of movement material, script development and experimentation with the filming of dance.

Mon 4 – Fri 8 Dec : Rowan Gillespie

Rowan will be looking at elements from ‘Woman with a Fish’, an ongoing exploration developing from its first public showing in 2004 at WASPS Studios, Glasgow . Created as a solo performance this work relates to a very personal and intimate portrait of one woman; he relationships, desires, emotions and fears.

Mon 11 – Fri 15 Dec : Waterbaby – Linda Payne & Claire Cunningham

In this residency Waterbaby plan to explode the minefield of PC terminology. Linda and Claire will explore: What is a Social Barrier? How does a pair of crutches affect a person’s social interaction? This topic evolved from observations of how people react to disability in a social environment.

Time : 10am-5pm

Venue : CCA, 350 Sauchiehall Street , Glasgow , G2
