Return to the Body
A weekend of movement research - the body as creative resource.
Saturday & Sunday June 23 & 24
10.30am - 4.30pm St Stephens Centre
St Stephen Street Edinburgh EH3 5AL
As movement artists our bodies are our primary creative resource and can be potent starting points for the making of dance and movement based performance work.
In this workshop I would like to share some of my current and ongoing movement and performance research. By delving deeper into the vast creative resource of the body, we will source not only movement and sensation, but also meaning and metaphor from the resource of our bodies -
keeper of mysteries, memories and magical mobile moments!
Janis Claxton(Aus/UK) is a choreographer, performer and teacher based in Edinburgh. She has performed internationally with companies, and as a solo artist. She has been teaching dance in professional. community and educational settings for over 20 years with her work grounded in her ongoing passion for movement research.

She is Artistic Director of Janis Claxton Dance, an Associate Lecturer at the Scottish School Of Contemporary Dance, a regular guest teacher at Dance Academy Arnhem (NL), and teaches many independent workshops for continuing professional development throughout the UK and abroad.
