Dance artist, Merav Israel will create and perform, along with a company of dancers and musicians, an engaging, site specific response
to Talbot Rice Gallery’s acclaimed Festival exhibition, David Batchelor: Unplugged.

Continuing Talbot Rice Gallery’s interest in cross-artform collaboration this event will encourage visitors to experience visual art in a sensory
and non-verbal way. The performance will explore the colour, content and visual imagery in Bachelor’s work extending the perception and
experience of audience members to include movement, rhythm and the physical space of the gallery.

Merav Israel grew up in Israel and has trained in contemporary dance, improvisation and somatic movement methods since
1991 nationally and internationally. She received her BA (Dance) and Teachers diploma in Movement and Movement Notation
from The Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance in 1997. Merav has created improvisational, choreographed and site specific
work in Israel and across Scotland.
She is artistic director of LaNua – Movement and Improvisation. She is founder and collaborator of Edinburgh group, the Bakers.
