Contact Improvisation „Solo – Duo – Trio“

5-days Intensive in Barcelona from 22.-26.10.07

Contact Improvisation is a duet form for a good
reason. It is
technically, emotionally and communicatively
highly complex. We can work
on the physicality of a CI duet for ever … and it
is worth it.
But we wish to be able to freely choose a contact
duet rather than
staying in it because we are scared of the other
options: solo and trio
and all the transitions between them.

Solo
We want to work technically. The base is our
anatomy and the search for
economic movements. From physical sensation we
will find the way into
different movement qualities and emotional states.

Duo
We will focus on the fundamentals of this form to
give a proper base for
all the other explorations.

Trio
We will work on three different roles in a Contact
trio. The mover, the
counterpart and the supporter. Once we get the
concept the roles can
change fluently and might find a flow beyond the duet.

How to maintain ones own world in a duet without
physical contact, with
touch or with shared weight … or in a trio?

So far the plan… but three weeks before the
workshop the three of us
start working in Residence on a CI based Trio
Piece. The best of what
we'll discover will find its way into the
workshop. We promise!
