Intensive Contact Improvisation weekend with Ray Chung 10th-12th October
Hi folks, the Bristol Contact community is excited to be hosting Ray Chung from San Francisco this autumn. He is a beautiful mover and inspired teacher, known world wide for his simple, direct and profound teaching. He's also a lot of fun - a little bit mischievous.... This will be a great weekend. The course will focus on integrating elements from various movement forms (CI, martial arts, dance, bodywork) to expand our choices and possibilities for Contact. Developing skills for moving in and out of contact seamlessly, how can we use elements of different movement forms to create the dance that moves us physically, emotionally, and in spirit?
Ray Chung is a performer, teacher, artist, and engineer who has worked with Contact Improvisation and improvisation since 1979. He uses Contact Improvisation as part of improvisational performance practice and integrates other movement forms into his work, including martial arts, bodywork and Authentic Movement. He has worked with pioneers of Contact Improvisation, including Nancy Stark Smith, Steve Paxton, Lisa Nelson, Peter Bingham, Andrew Harwood, and regularly collaborates with dancers, musicians, and other artists. Ray’s work has been featured at numerous national and international festivals and venues. Currently based in San Francisco, Ray regularly teaches abroad.
