Dancing In & Out of Contact with Janis Claxton - Edinburgh
A workshop based in the fundamental skills and interplay between Improvisation and Contact Improvisation.
Contact Improvisation is a dance form based on a rolling point of contact between 2 or more participants. In this workshop we will explore fundamental principles of motion that underpin Contact Improvisation and easeful, embodied movement, unfolding into dancing that enhances playfulness, awareness, skill and pleasure in improvisation, Contact Improvisation and the spaces between.

Costs: (It is possible to attend either or both days of this weekend) 1 day: £22 concession £27 part-waged £35 waged. 2 days: £40 concession £50 part-waged £65 waged
This workshop is for movement-based practitioners and students, artists from other forms interested in collaborations with movers, as well as for community members who foster a professional approach, interest and desire to exploring the moving body
Janis Claxton is a choreographer, dancer and teacher based in Edinburgh. She is artistic director of the award winning company Janis Claxton Dance whose recent durational improvised performance 'Enclosure 44- Humans' at Edinburgh Zoo during the Fringe Festival was awarded a Herald Angel Award and shortlisted for a Total Theatre Award.
