The recent correspondence regarding Henry Hodgkinson deserves a postcript
regarding the origin of the photographs in the Albums.
At the end of the published account of the lecture to the Birmingham
Archeological Society in December 1913 credit for the photographs was given
to two people. One was Herbert New who was also a Birmingham Solicitor and a
member of the Birmingham Archeological Society. He had a long interest in
photography and may be a candidate for the origin of the BCN Photographs.
Born in Evesham, Herbert followed his fathers profession and came to
Birmingham in 1876. He was for a time associated with the BAS Photographic
collection.
