ReBirth 1997 - 2005

Propellerheads have discontinued their pioneering Rebirth software.
Rebirth was one of the first ever PC/Mac software instruments & helped
pave the way for the soft-synth/VST revolution that was to follow. It
was also of course the fore runner to Reason itself - without ReBirth
there probably would not have been Reason! As such it's importance in
Propellerhead's history, not to mention the history of software
instruments, can't be understated.

It certainly had a huge impact on me when back in 1997/98 a friend
wanted to play me some Acid/Techno tracks that he'd made with his PC
using some software called ReBirth. Having previously spent a lot of
time using another friends Roland 808, 909 & 303 machines I was
sceptical as to how these tracks were going to sound ........ I was
blown away by what I heard! I couldn't believe this was software
costing £150! I had toyed with the idea of buying a Roland 808 or 909 &
a 303 for myself but at this time the prices were starting to sky
rocket as demand for old analogue gear was on the increase (A year
before my friend had payed just £50 for his 303!). It wasn't long after
hearing ReBirth that I decided to scrub the idea of buying old kit &
other hardware & instead buy a computer & some music software :-)
