I know. It does seem a bit odd. I don't know if another solution
aside from creating a web site and a database.
I've just noticed that when you load a skin onto the Combinator
Reason generates the pitch/wheel shadows which means if you leaves
these on your skin designs the shadow animation when you move the
wheel looks a little odd!
Should have remebered that the wheels have a notch out of them like
real pitch wheels & this is recreated in on Reason devices in the
shadows. Can't think why I didn't realise this before! Doh!
In any case, Worth noting for future designs.

I think thats pants that we reached the download/bandwidth limit in
only a few hours!! At the time it was reached we only had about 20
members. How much downloading could we have done?

Welcome.
Sadly, I think Yahoo has some limitations as we've discovered today. Yahoo
groups
only allows a certain amount of bandwidth for downloads and it seems this group
has
exceeded it. Hopefully, things will be ironed out shortly.

It is true that the combinator skin is one image when in jpg format however,
what
goes on "behind the scenes" in side the program iteslf is a bunch of code
telling
which part of the image does what. I've only started learning about the
programming
language involved in cutting a skin and making it work. I believe this is why
they tell
you in the text doc included in Reason 3.0 to turn off certain layers so as to
prevent
screwing up the program.
If your good enough, you can make your own buttons and fool the program into
thinking your new buttons are what should be used. I'm not sure how to do that
though.
Hi all.
I have a skinning question for those that are in the know.
I've parused the how to skin file but I'm not clear one thing. It
would seem that the combonator "skin" is really just a single image.
Which means you don't have control over how the button look. Am I
right? Also what about when the combontoe is open/closed. Does it
use the same image?
I don't have my copy of R3 yet so I don't know how it llok or works
just yet...
Thanks...
I think this is cool but people are already running into the bandwidth
limit yahoo gropus have. I don't no what it is but it is small. I
set up a private group just to share some pictures(small files we all
had like 1 megapixel cameras) from a vacation with friends and it
didn't long to get:
Document Unavailable
The document you requested is temporarily unavailable because this
group has exceeded its download limit. Please try again later.
It works based on bandwidth over time not sure what the time frame is
and reset every once in a while.
The message board should be cool though.
Also, I've just ried to download one of the Combinator patches that
was uploaded earlier & I could download this okay. I'm not sure if
that has anything to so with me being the moderator? I doubt it. Is
anyone still having problems?

I couldn't find anything about download limits in the 'group help'
pages. I've sent an e-mail asking about this & why people are having
these problems already. I only started the group earlier today! I
find it hard to believe we've reached any kind of limit restrictions
already!

Eh? That's a bit crap. The content is tiny! How can we have reached a
download limit already? (As I said in the last post, I didn't even
know there was a download limit!!) I'll have to look into this.

I tried to downlaod the 70's looking skin and it went to an error
screen saying this group had exceeded it's download limits.

Download limit? I didn't think there was one! I know there's an
upload limit but we're obviously nowhere near that yet.

I work in the web design world. Yes, it would take a lot of work.
The database where people could upload their skinds and whatnot
requires quite a bit of programming.

It would be cool to have a proper site dedictated to the Combinator.
I think it's inevitable that someone is going to put one up sooner or
later. The one good thing about these Yahoo groups is that as long as
your a member of the group you can upload & edit content. I think it
would take a bit more setting up if you wanted to do a site with user
uploads. don't qoute me on that though as I knw F**k all about web
design/protocol to be honest.
checkign with http://www.betterwhois.com combiskin.com and
combinatorskins.com are both available. combinator.com is reserved.
I'd buy and and start the web site except I'm on a limited budget and
I don't have the time to spend on it. But someone here might want to.
I noticed 'Equiniox' got in there well quick & posted 3 skins before
I'd even had a chance to create a folder for skins!! :-) I've moved
his 3 designs into the skins folder.
I've also created a seperate folder for patches + There's a template
folder with a cut down version of the Photoshop template file (I
wasn't able to upload the original PS template file for some reason.
Maybe it was to big?). There's also a .jpeg template in there.

I tried to upload the temaplate PS file earlier & had problems with
that as well. In the end I stripped away loads of stuff from the PS
file to reduce it's size from over 2MB down to about 600k. This time
it worked!
How big is the file you are trying to upload?

Nice though.. Tried to upload a zip full of backdrops, but got an
error message.. Sumpn' wrong?
Combinator skins & patches are already popping up all over the net. I
thought we might as well have a place where people can post their
Combinator creations in order to consolidate all their efforts in one
place.
This group was mainly started as a place to host Combinator skins but
as Combinator patches are generally very small I thought we could
post these here as well.
