At the charity fair at dacorum college the mayor was kind enough to
sign our petition. We got a digital picture of him signing it. great!
Tony McWalter our labour MP, also came around and added his signature
to it. I'd appreciate it if mike penning added his.
You may already have signed it mike but i say to you as i said to tony
mcwalter at the time, it's not much good to me if people don't return
the thing to dacorum fairtrade, then everybody says and knows they've
signed it but us!
So consequently i have the word of maureen flint that she's signed but
i don't have any proof telling me she has, so where are all these
signed petitions? i confess this was probably my fault as adding a
RETURN TO ADDRESS would have been helpful.
SO! Would all of you out there who have kindly signed the fairtrade
town petition give me a copy so i know who's signed what? the return
address is Dacorum Fairtrade Group c/o Francois Henderson, 89 Cedar
Walk, Hemel Hempstead, Herts.
i can tell you that thanks to help from friends and supporters we now
have around 100 signatures and this is not including signatures from
petitions that the labour, liberal and conservative parties have
contributed to. So that would probably double it again i hope. And
while i'm not planning to put names on the website without prior
permission, we can publish numbers of people who've signed.
Where are all these signatures going to go? well i hope to collect as
many as possible to support a meeting at the council in the new year
in the run up to fairtrade fortnight for events i'm planning now. If
we could get a council resolution for March Fairtrade Fortnight that
would be awesome! And very good for pr too!
i'm working on a newsletter now with the year's press cuttings and
stories. i'm planning to send this out to supporters on a quartely
basis.
On the subject of raising more money, there is something i would urge
people to support us on but i'm leaving that to a seperate post as
it's easier to segregate different subjects into mail headings.
There is an environment forum meeting next week to discuss the
development of the community plan and i will be there as usual, if
richard, or mike would like to hear about how we can plan for a
sustainable future for dacorum the meetings are at the civic centre
18th November Environment forum starting 7:30pm.
regards
Francois
