The council are still proceeding slowly towards acceptance of the
five goals. yesterday recieved a phone call from andrew tippen who
works for economic regeneration at the bridge. The economic scrutiny
committee meets this thursday with it is hoped agreement on issues
discussed by all the members. A report has been drafted to go to the
cabinett.
Once council has accepted and worked out all the legal implications
they want to work with dacorum faitrade group to promote fairtrade
for the borough. Anyway it's encouraging news especially as i
remember approaching the bridge last year only to be told that they
couldn't get involved for political reasons. So progress there.
Meanwhile the boxmoor trusts annual conker festival is this year on
sunday 16th october and we have two tables for a stall for dacorum
fairtrade. We;ll be under a marquee so protected from the weather.
It's only for three hours but if anyone want to come along and help
sell fairtrade. We;ll be serving up fairtrade mulled wine, or at
least we will be once i get the hang of the recipe.
Anyone fancy getting involved?
