1399 has been sold to a scrap merchant.
It arrived at Meldon shortly after the two thumpers 205028 and 205032 and the CEP 1198, but unlike the other three, was only there for store.
The owner was talking to another line very recently, and appears to have changed his mind at the last minute. Also EMUPS had made an offer for the owner to become a company director and bring the unit into the EMUPS fleet where both units could be worked on together.
Scrap value of EMU vehicles is apparently around £3000 per vehicle.
The unit was purchased from Porterbrook at £50 per carriage plus VAT.
Rent for stored vehicles at Meldon was £18 per vehicle per week
