Re: Weekend 15/16 SEP 07... Transport to/from London.

DR have a possession 15th and 17/22 SEP for vegetation clearance of the trackside. Details are reproduced below.
There will be transport available from London to Okehampton and back on the weekend of the 15/16 SEP. This will allow everyone to take part in the line clearance (Saturday) if they wish and still leave time for a full days work on the unit for all you CEP enthusiasts out there. Non members of EMUPS are welcome to travel with us.
The general plan is to leave Woolwich at about 22:00 on Friday and return Sunday to arrive about the same time. Other pickup points may be possible provided that they are "on route" or nearly so. ( Sorry Albert, Chatham is not "on route".) If you only want to travel one way that is no problem either. A modest donation towards the cost of fuel would be appreciated.

There is not much left to do to 1198 to have it fully fit for service, if enough bodies turn up this weekend we might just finish the job!!!.

VEGETATION CLEARANCE
15 Sept and 17 - 22 Sept inclusive (not 16th Sept)
Dear all
We have possession of the track in mid September in order that we may clear much of the vegetation which is currently encroaching onto the track in the North Tawton area and from the Boundary of Dartmoor Railway to 'Two Moors Way'. This 'tidying up' operation is critical to the operation of the line and will set up the railway well for the coming leaf fall season.
I would like to see ten Chain Saw teams, each team comprising one chain saw, with a qualified and certified operator, and a support crew of at least 3 able bodied and fit adults to help remove the trimmings. The day's work will require around Seven and a Half Hours of potentially 'hard, but very rewarding labour'. Are you up to it ? If so we really want to hear from you as soon as possible please.
A free packed lunch will be provided for all workers and if you use wood fuel as many logs as you wish to take for free,
Full details of the work area, with access points, will be published before work commences.
This is a major task and is a major manpower requirement for our staff and dedicated Volunteers. If you are able to help please email or phone me or Brian Mills or just add your name and contact details to the list now published in the Okehampton Booking on point.
