Yesterday saw the return of 3-CEP 1198 'Linda' to the Dartmoor Rly mainline.
She did two return trips to Coleford for driver training and route knowledge with ED 73117, working in multiple.
At the same time, while waiting for the start of the trips, an opportunity was taken to touch up the paintwork on the north side, and give her a handbash.
Line speed or near linespeed was achievable as the trips were not in public service and were for driver training purposes.
Total mileage was around 60 miles, and the drivers approved of her.
It is hoped as a result that 1198 will be used for the Diesel gala the weekend of 20th and 21st October, this is expected to be mainly on runs between Meldon Quarry and Okehampton bay.
All that is now needed is to megga the MG, which has not turned since around the same time last year and should hopefully be OK, and give the south side a handbash, and all should be ready.
Our thanks to all involved, Dartmoor railway and the drivers for making this a success.
Regards
Albert
