To be honest I would have thought it was on the juice more frequently, I suppose there is a space issue though at Eastleigh.

It does answer the question posed at the East Kent and the HERO meeting.

If you could run a preserved EMU on the mainline without OTMR, CDL etc, how long would it take to get the preserved EMUs from their current state?

If they are at Eastleigh - 8 months seems a reasonable estimate, of course 3417 has spent most of its time before spending less than a week at EG, on the juice being looked after at Wimbledon Pk. Other EMUs have sat in sidings off the power for several years, and will require all sorts of work.

Hence the need for one or two lines to electrify, It was interesting to see the EKR method of rectifying 3 phase to run the MGs on the EMUs there, as a stop-gap measure, it works, but really these units up and down the country need to be 'on the juice'

Regards
Albert

I have just received an email from another email group with news of
the Bluebell's 4VEP EMU.....

<quote>

There's a four-coach blue thing with lots of doors sat in Eastleigh
Yard, whirring away on the juice and back in ticket for the first time
in 8 months...

3417 was given her first exam in 8 months; bar a few bugs she is all
but ready for the mainline again.
