Hi Guys
I think Miriam must have slipped with the keyboard - there was a doubt at the meeting you kindly allowed me to sit in on, as to what the current rule was exactly but it was certainly confirmed that what was wanted was that a novice jumping the novice 300km hurdle in 2009 season would not be forced into Intermediate until the 2011 season and would therefore have another season to practise their art in Novice - that was my understanding anyway??
I also believe that it was agreed that this dispensation did not apply to the Regional's hurdle and also that it was in fact "more than 1 Regional's" and NOT "more than 2" as Miriam has recorded???
There was also a discussion on how to classify Junior Championship - I believe it was decided that this should be disregarded completely but I dont think it was formalised???
Suggest discuss and clarify
Kind regards
Russell

Subject: Re: [East_Mids_ICL] New Rules - As Discussed at Hus Bos 4 May
Hi Miriam,
Point 3: As stated I think this is as per the old rules. i.e. not flown a 300km prior to April 1st of the year you are competing in. Do you mean 2011? This would be a years extension on the old rule or am I totally missing something.
Apart from clarification of that point I am happy to go along with it.
Best regards,
Julian

Dear all,
Following the implementation of the rules as decided at the end of the last season, there has been some revision so that the rules become (hopefully!) clearer and fairer.
The basic changes are as follows:
1. The rule allowing pundits to fly as an intermediate with a 10% penalty has been scrapped. This was found to not be a big enough penalty at the Hus Bos weekend with the Hus Bos "intermediates" beating the "true" intermediates by over 30kph in one case.
2. The boundaries for the classes have been changed.
Novice - anyone who has not flown a UK 300km
- is allowed to have flown 2 UK Regionals
Intermediate - anyone who has flown a UK 300km
- has competed in more than 2 UK Regionals
Pundit - anyone who has been placed in the top half of a Nationals in the last 10 years
- anyone who has flown a UK 750km
3. There is a period of grace for the 300km flights of 1 year. For example, if your novice was to fly a 300km this season, they would not move into the intermediate class until the start of the 2010 season.
I hope this makes sense. It obviously relies upon a measure of honesty from teams whcih, this being a fun competition, I am sure will happen! Let's see how it works at Saltby.
See you all in two weeks at Saltby (to sit in the rain as usual!)
